Terms of Service

Last updated: 22 April 2026

These Terms of Service govern your use of mayaresaerch.com and the Maya Research streaming text-to-speech API, developer portal, and related services (collectively the "Service") operated by Maya Research Pvt. Ltd. ("the Company," "we," "us," or "our") (Church Street, MG Road, Unit 402, Bengaluru 560001, Karnataka, India). By registering for a developer account, obtaining an API key, or otherwise using the Service, you accept these Terms. Nothing in these Terms limits your statutory rights under the laws of your country of residence.

1. Agreement

These Terms form a binding agreement between you and the Company. If you are accepting on behalf of an organisation, you represent that you have authority to bind that organisation. The Service is intended for software developers, product teams, and businesses integrating speech synthesis into applications; it is not intended for consumers as an end-user product.

2. Use of the Service

You must be of legal age in your jurisdiction (or have parental consent) to use the Service. By using the Service you agree to:

  • Use the Service only for lawful purposes and in compliance with these Terms.
  • Keep your API key confidential. You are responsible for all API calls made under your credentials.
  • Not use the Service to synthesise content that is defamatory, fraudulent, or in violation of applicable law, including Indian law governing speech and media.
  • Not attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the underlying model weights from the hosted API endpoint (open weights released by the Company are separately licensed and may be used under those licence terms).
  • Not scrape, reproduce, or resell the Service in ways that compete directly with the Company's commercial offering.
  • Not use the Service to create voice clones or synthetic voices impersonating real individuals without appropriate consent, and to comply with any platform rules governing synthetic-voice disclosure in your distribution context.

The Company reserves the right to suspend or rate-limit accounts that violate these Terms or that generate usage patterns inconsistent with normal developer use.

3. Intellectual Property

The Service, including the API infrastructure, closed-source model components, website content, and the Maya Research brand, is owned by the Company or its licensors and is protected by applicable intellectual-property law. The Company grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and use the Service for its intended purpose in accordance with these Terms. Audio output generated by the API from your text input is yours to use, subject to the restrictions in Section 2.

Open-weights model files released by the Company are separately governed by their published licence. Nothing in these Terms restricts rights granted under that licence.

4. Your Content and API Input

You are responsible for any text you submit to the API and for the audio output you produce and distribute. You represent that you have all rights necessary to submit text content and that doing so does not infringe third-party rights. You grant the Company a limited licence to process the text you submit solely to provide the synthesis service. The Company does not use your submitted text to train or fine-tune its models without your explicit written consent.

5. Developer Accounts and Billing

Access to paid API plans requires a developer account. You agree to provide accurate billing information. Subscription fees are charged in advance; usage-based overages are charged in arrears. The Company may suspend API access for non-payment after notice. All fees are exclusive of taxes; you are responsible for any applicable local taxes on amounts billed.

6. Disclaimers

The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. The Company disclaims all warranties to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Language model outputs may contain errors; you are responsible for evaluating output quality before relying on it in production. Mandatory consumer warranties applicable in your country of residence are not affected.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Company's total liability for any claim arising from or related to the Service will not exceed the fees paid by you to the Company in the three months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or INR 10,000 (whichever is greater), except for liability that cannot be limited under mandatory law. The Company is not liable for loss of profits, loss of data, or indirect or consequential damages.

8. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Maya Research Pvt. Ltd., its directors, employees, and contractors from any claims, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your breach of these Terms, your violation of any third-party right, or content you submit through the API.

9. Termination

You may close your account at any time by contacting us. The Company may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, upon reasonable notice where practicable. Sections 3, 6, 7, 8, 10, and 11 survive termination by their nature.

10. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Disputes are subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts in Bengaluru, India, without prejudice to mandatory consumer-protection rights of your country of residence.

11. Changes and Contact

The Company may update these Terms. Material changes will be posted with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Service after a material change constitutes acceptance. For questions about these Terms, contact us at:
